Douglas Yorke Jr., Passionate Author From Red Bank, Dies After Easter Sunday Crash
A Monmouth County author died from his injuries after an SUV struck him while he rode his bike on Easter Sunday, authorities said.
Douglas Yorke Jr., 72, of Red Bank, was hit by a black 2017 Honda HR-V at around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 31, a Shrewsbury police spokesperson said. The crash happened on Samara Drive, just south of Obre Place.
Yorke was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune to be treated for his injuries. He died at the hospital on Thursday, Apr. 11, according to his obituary.

A 79-year-old driver was killed and another seriously injured in a head-on crash in Upper Freehold Township, authorities said.
A 23-year-old Rumson man was driving a Jeep Laredo west on Route 537 at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 when he crossed over the center line to pass vehicles in front of him, said Sgt. Philip Curry, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
John Shovelin III, the Jeep's driver, slammed head-on into an eastbound Buick Enclave, Curry said.

A 19-year-old bartender at celebrity chef Victor Rallo’s Jersey Shore restaurant says she was groped by a drunken friend of her manager — and her bosses did nothing to help, according to a newly-filed lawsuit.

Pickup Driver, 62, Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash
A 62-year-old man from the Jersey Shore was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 10:53 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 on the parkway northbound local lanes to Jon Bon Jovi Service Area in Sayreville, according to New Jersey State Police.
Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford F-150 was traveling on the exit ramp. While on the ramp, the Ford impacted the right guardrail, ran off the road to the right, overturned, and struck several trees, State Police said.

Water Search Continues For Missing Jersey Shore Kayaker
Authorities continued a search Friday for a Burlington County kayaker who apparently couldn’t get back to land before a storm hit the Jersey Shore.
Nadem Aksoy, 50, of Bordentown and a friend were fishing in their kayaks on the Navesink River in Monmouth County when the storm blew in around midnight, his brother, Mujdad, told News 12.
He "looked at his phone, the storm was coming, and then he called his friend [who] was on [a] kayak too,” his brother said.
The friend saw Aksoy’s kayak flip over and Aksoy trying to hold onto it, Mujdad said.
