The school will remain closed for the fifth consecutive day of school because of dangerous road conditions and ongoing power outages caused by Hurricane Sandy.  Six Yonkers schools remain without power as of Thursday and two have only partial power, Pierorazio said.

“The District’s primary goal is to return students to safe and healthy learning environments,” he said in a statement. “Thankfully, our schools incurred minimal damage; we will welcome our students as soon as roads are deemed safe for transport and power is restored.”

For those experiencing difficulty contacting the district while restoration efforts continue, please log onto the district’s website, and fill out the “Temporary Contact Form.” A link to the form is located on the right-hand side of the home page.
