Henson, an attorney, was appointed to fill the last year of Funny-Crosby’s three-year term. He brings nine years of experience as a member of the board. After his withdrawal from the board in 2012, he continued to serve on the district’s audit committee. As a past president of the board of education, he said he's confident he can provide a level of experience and stability to support the board.

“I know that sometimes this can be a thankless job, but when it is done the right way, it can be pretty rewarding,” said Henson, whose son graduated from Alexander Hamilton Jr./Sr. High School in 2011.

Other members of the reorganized board include Dennis Rambaran, president; Ted Thomas, vice president; and trustees Candice Wood and Marla Peers.

A lifelong Elmsford resident, Funny-Crosby said she has enjoyed her tenure as a trustee, vice president and president of the board.  She had served the board since 2005.“

For me, it was all about the community and our kids,” she said.

Both Henson and Funny-Crosby said they are proud of the work they’ve achieved as board members, particularly the academic advances made in all three schools.

“The Elmsford UFSD is blessed with some of the most committed and engaged board of education trustees I have ever had the privilege to serve,” said Superintendent Joseph Ricca. “All of our trustees are outstanding community leaders. As we continue to move our district forward, we are excited to welcome Mrs. Peers to the board and Mr. Henson back to the role of trustee. We are also very grateful to Mrs. Funny-Crosby for all of her years of service to the children and community of the Elmsford UFSD.”
