Brewster Guide Dog Recovering After Shielding Owner From Being Hit By Bus

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A guide dog is recovering in a veterinary hospital in Southeast after leaping in front of a mini-school bus in Brewster to protect his blind owner on Monday, according to multiple reports.

Figo, a golden retriever, who helped protect his blind owner from an oncoming school bus, is recovering at Middlebranch Veterinary Hospital in Southeast.

Figo, a male golden retriever, was in a splint following surgery to his right front leg. His owner, Audrey Stone, 62, is in Danbury Hospital recovering from several broken ribs, a broken elbow and a broken ankle, NBC New York reports.

"All of us at Middlebranch Veterinary would like to thank everyone for the generous outpouring of well wishes for the service dog Figo (Not Bigo)," Middlebranch Veterinary posted on its Facebook page. "He is resting comfortably and recovering nicely from his wounds."
