Or perhaps those long winters would be easier if you had an over-sized snow melter.
Well you’re in luck.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced Thursday a new list of surplus city-owned assets are posted for auction on the city's eBay store, YonkersCARStore.com.
For 10 days, shoppers will have the opportunity to bid on dozens of items, including the recently replaced Getty Square Clock ($660 starting bid) and 28 vehicles ($500 starting bids).
The priciest starting bid –- $75,000 for a Snow Dragon, used by the Department of Public Works to melt snow.
“With the holiday season approaching, I encourage those looking for a great deal to check out our new inventory of items, from cars to fire hydrants,” Spano said in a statement.
In June, city officials announced they would begin hawking unwanted goods on YonkersCARStore.com, a site run by eBay, in the hopes of raising a little extra cash. Since then, the city has raised more than $60,000 with the sale of approximately 40 items, the mayor’s office reports.
“This simple method of generating revenue for the City has become an accessible way of turning years of excessive spending into significant savings for taxpayers,” Spano said.
The mayor said Yonkers plans to unload more items in the upcoming months as part of the Comprehensive Asset Reduction Schedule meant to reduce city spending.
