YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers Police Department along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will hold a drug take-back day at all four police precincts on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Residents are invited to drop off any unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs or patches. Liquids, syringes and sharps will not be accepted.

“National studies indicate that nearly half of young heroin users started out using prescription drugs. So we strongly recommend that our residents help protect their children by removing unused or expired prescription medication from their homes and take advantage of this program," Police Commissioner Charles Gardner said in a statement.

The locations and phone numbers for the Yonkers police precincts are as follows:

  • 1st Precinct – 730 E. Grassy Sprain Road. Phone: 377-7477
  • 2nd Precinct – 441 Central Park Ave. Phone: 377-7452
  • 3rd Precinct – 435 Riverdale Ave. Phone: 377-7427
  • 4th Precinct – 53 Shonnard Place. Phone: 377-7402
