Police Investigating Daytime Stabbing That Leaves Victim Dead In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Detectives in Yonkers are asking for the community’s assistance as they investigate a midday Monday stabbing that left a man dead.

On Monday, the Yonkers Police Department announced that they were investigating a stabbing that took place at 5 S. Broadway (Route 9) on Monday afternoon that resulted in a 49-year-old man’s death after he was treated for wounds to his torso.

According to police, shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the location after the stabbing was reported. The as-of-yet unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital with a stab wound to his torso, and was subsequently announced dead.

The identity of the victim will be released pending the notification of next of kin.

Police are currently investigating the stabbing as a homicide and are currently in the process of reviewing video evidence and interviewing witnesses. The initial investigation indicates that the stabbing may not have been a random incident and the victim may have been a target.

No suspect has been charged as of Monday night. Police are asking anyone with information to confidentially contact the Detective Division at (914) 377-7724 or by texting anonymous tips with the word ypd and the information to 847411.
