Passenger In Car Driven By Yonkers Drunk Driver Dies From Head Trauma

A 25-year-old man from Westchesteris facing a vehicular assault charge after drinking, driving, crashing his Honda into a truck and killing his passenger.

Members of the NYPD’s 17th Precinct were dispatched to East 34th Street and 3rd Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19. Upon arrival, officers reported that a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by Antonio Sikolas of Yonkers had crashed into a Mack Truck that was operated by a 48-year-old man.

Police said that when the two vehicles collided, the Honda became wedged under the truck and both continued traveling down 34th Street, striking a Camry with a 27-year-old man inside.

Sikolas and the driver of the Camry were transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Sikolas’ passenger was transported to the hospital in critical condition with a head trauma. He was pronounced dead last week.

Officers arrested Sikolas and he was charged with first-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was remanded to the Manhattan Criminal Court without bail.
