Yonkers Police and Yonkers Fire units extricated the woman, an Ardsley resident who was a passenger in a Ford Focus, shortly after the crash, which occurred around 11 a.m.

Emergency responders began CPR on the woman, who was subsequently transported to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, where she was pronounced deceased at 11:50 a.m.

Next of kin notifications are still being made and her name has not been identified as a result.

Yonkers Police Accident Investigators immediately processed the scene for evidence and the investigation is ongoing.

Initial investigation has revealed that this accident involved two vehicles, a Ford Focus and a Chevy Tahoe.

The Ford Focus was apparently travelling southbound on Central Park Avenue and appears to have been making a left hand turn into a shopping center parking lot when it made contact with the Chevy Tahoe, which was travelling northbound on Central Park Avenue.

The drivers of the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Focus were both treated for non-life threatening injuries. All parties cooperated during this investigation and no charges have been lodged.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division and Traffic Unit are continuing this investigation and as such no further information will be released at this time.
