The incident took place on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when Christopher McGormen, 36, of Yonkers, was misbehaving in a clinic area and needed to be restrained, said Justin D. Pruyne, Deputy Commissioner of Correction.

"He resisted the correction officer’s efforts to do so, but was ultimately secured," said Pruyne,

During the process, the correction officer sustained injuries, was treated at the emergency room and was released.

McGormen had been previously been in the jail's custody for a violation of the terms of his probation and assault in the third degree Pruyne said.

He has since been arrested by Westchester County Police and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, he added.
