Yonkers Residents Arrested In Drug Trafficking Swep

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A seven month joint investigation ended with the identification of more than 60 individuals suspected to be involved with drug trafficking in New Rochelle.

On Wednesday morning, officials from the New Rochelle and White Plains Police Departments partnered with the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, District Attorney’s office, FBI and DEA agents to search for and arrest 64 individuals that “have significant involvement in drug trafficking operations,” in New Rochelle.

In total, as of Wednesday afternoon, there are 50 suspects in custody, while officials track down the remaining 14. Arrests were made of New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Yonkers, Larchmont and Bronx residents.

During the investigation, which the New Rochelle Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit kicked off in May, the law enforcement agencies teamed to identify the suspects and secure warrants in advance of the sweep.

According to a statement from the New Rochelle Police Department, the suspects that were arrested as part of the operation – codenamed City Sweeper 2 - have been charged with everything from felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance to weapons and criminal facilitation charges.
