YONKERS, N.Y. – One person was treated for smoke inhalation and a family was displaced after a three-alarm fire ripped through a Yonkers home Saturday night.

Firefighters were still battling the blaze on Dudley Place around 11:15 p.m. but had knocked down all visible flames, Yonkers Fire Chief Robert Capurso said. The fire's cause has yet to be determined.

“The fire had gotten into the walls and up in the attic,” Capurso said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the three-story house on Dudley Place around 9:40 p.m. Heavy smoke was spewing down to Park Avenue, Capurso said. Heavy fire was reported in the rear of the house and the home's occupants had already escaped by the time firefighters arrived, Capurso said.

One resident in a neighboring house was treated for smoke inhalation, Capurso said.

Firefighters were ordered out of the house when the blaze intensified, Capurso said, and they began pouring water on the home's exterior.

The Yonkers Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross were contacted to help the displaced family, Capurso said. No firefighter injuries were reported.
