Joseph F. Dwyer, 88, Former Resident Of Yonkers, WWII Sea Veteran

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Joseph F. Dwyer, a resident of Poughkeepsie and formerly of Yonkers, died Nov. 22. He was 88.

Dwyer was born to Rose and Michael. He was a graduate of Gorton High School and served in World War II as a merchant seaman.

Dwyer is survived by his sister, Patricia Stephens of Middletown; brother, Donald (Veronica) of Congers; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Edward.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home , Congers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 at St. Paul's Church. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
