YONKERS, N.Y. - Jeff Campion (Y.F.D.) of Yonkers died Friday, Jan. 17. He was 52.

Campion was born Sept. 10, 1961, to Frederick and Antonia (Walsh) Campion in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Yonkers High School. He was a Yonkers firefighter for over 22 years stationed with Engine # 3 on Vark Street. He was a recipient of many awards and citations for bravery and heroism. He was a 20-year volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House in New York City., he also gave his time to the Wounded Warrior Project. He also spent 40 days as a 911 responder. He was awarded the 2012 Firefighter of the Year.

Campion is survived by his father; Frederick of Carmel; brothers, Fred of Mohegan Lake and Christopher; sisters, Dawn and Kendal; three nieces and three nephews; and cousin, Ken Campion.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Donations may be made in Campion's memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 405 East 73rd Street, New York, N.Y. 10021.
