Funeral Arrangements Made For Yonkers Car Crash Victim, 19

Funeral arrangements have been made for Nina Cordero, the Westchester teenager that was killed over the weekend after a driver overturned his BMW in Yonkers, ejecting her from the vehicle.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 at the Flower Funeral Home in Yonkers. There will be a funeral mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. the following day at Sacred Heart Monastery Church. The interment will be private.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Central Park Avenue, near Sadore Lane at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, where there were reports of an accident involving an overturned vehicle.

Upon arrival, Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said that officers spotted the BMW M5 in the roadway, with a passenger having been ejected from the vehicle further down the road, unconscious and unresponsive. First responders administered medical aid, including CPR and transported the 19-year-old Yonkers resident to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A former employee of Lord and Taylor’s in Ridge Hill, Cordero was set to continue her education at Southern Westchester BOCES next month.

Cordero was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico to her parents, Edwin Cordero and Maritza Celez. She is survived by her fiance, Nicholas Hicks, and her sisters Jennifer Pabon, Kirtizia Cordero and jessica Pabon.
