Yonkers Film Festival Announces Call For Entries

YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers Film Festival (YoFi Fest) has announced its call for entries for its second annual festival, which takes place from Friday, Oct. 17 until Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Yonkers Riverfront Library.

"People had a really good experience last time and told their friends, so we've had a lot of interest from filmmakers already," said Dave Steck, YoFi Fest's executive director.

"We're very optimistic that we're going to get some great films that audiences are really going to enjoy," he said. "This year's festival is going to be even bigger and better than the last one."

The submission period is open through August, with the films accepted to the festival to be announced in September. Films can be submitted digitally at

"We are delighted to continue our partnership with Numeric Pictures as they kick off the Second Annual YoFi Film Festival in Westchester County," said Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino. "The county's film industry is a growing sector and YoFi Fest provides a stage for new filmmakers to showcase their work and an opportunity to learn from the best in the business."

Building on the success of last year's festival, this year YoFi Fest plans to screen more than 75 films, including features, shorts, documentaries, animation, music videos and student work.

It will also host another "mini film school" that includes lively discussions led by award-winning industry professionals on various aspects of film-making, including production, writing, locations, distribution, marketing, animation, post-production, permits, insurance, payroll and how to break into the industry.

There will be a red carpet reception and nightly parties where audiences and filmmakers will get the chance to connect and converse. Saturday and Sunday mornings will feature family-friendly screenings and programs for kids at no charge.
