The evacuation of the buildings, with a total of 104 apartments, is a precautionary measure, officials said.

Residents will be relocated to local hotels, where 80 rooms have been reserved, officials said. The apartment buildings consist of mostly seniors. There is no time frame for letting the residents back in to the buildings, according to officials. The situation is being assessed and there is potential for additional mudslides.  The Yonkers Fire Department, Yonkers Police Department and OEM are on scene. YFD had eight companies and 30 firefighters on the scene. The Yonkers Fire Department shored the interior of the lobby. Deputy Chief Robert Capurso is in Command.

They are using the PAL building on North Broadway as a staging area.
