Verplanck resident Kenneth Brody, 57, was convicted of eight counts of sexual assault against a minor, following a jury trial in Westchester County Court, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday.
On Friday, April 21 last year, New York State Police and the Westchester County Child Advocacy investigated reports of a sexual offense that had been reported to state police involving Brody, who is a registered Level 2 sex offender. He was arrested the following day after his victim claimed he was subjected to years of abuse in Cortlandt.
According to police, during the investigation, it was determined that Brody sexually abused the teenage boy from the time he was 7 until he was 13 years old and eventually reported the assaults.
Brody had been convicted in 1992 for sexual abuse against an 8-year-old child. As a Level 2 threat, the Division of Criminal Justice Services had designated Brody as a “moderate risk of a repeat offense.” Scarpino said that he completed his sentence for the original assault in 1998, years before he met his latest victim.
Sentencing for Brody has been scheduled for Nov. 20, when he will face a maximum of 46 years in prison.
