The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Thursday to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 42-year-old Sidney Abdul, who has moved to an apartment on Bruce Avenue in Yonkers.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Abdul a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Abdul had sexual contact with his victim with someone who was known to him while he was serving as a babysitter in June 2001. He was arrested by the Mount Vernon City Police Department and convicted of having first-degree sexual contact with an individual less than 11-years-old in February 2003. He was sentenced to five years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Yonkers City Police Department SOR Unit.
