Kitten Thrown From Third Story Of Yonkers Building

YONKERS, N.Y. – A warrant was issued for the arrest of a man accused of throwing a 5-week-old female kitten out a third-floor window of a Yonkers building Sunday, the SPCA of Westchester said Tuesday.

Precious did not suffer life threatening injuries after being thrown from a Yonkers third-story window, the SPCA said.

The kitten, named Precious, was rushed to the Westchester Animal Hospital in Mount Vernon. The county SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Division was contacted by Yonkers Police after a call on a domestic dispute, where they found the kitten on the concrete sidewalk at 217 S. Waverly St., according to the SPCA.

The kitten was thrown out the window by Craig Morejon after an argument with his ex-girlfriend at her apartment, the SPCA statement said.

A vet reported that Precious’s upper teeth went through the bottom of her mouth upon falling from the third floor, the SPCA said. However, the SPCA believes she righted herself during the fall and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. She was returned to her owner.

Morejon has been charged with assault and animal abuse, but he fled before police arrived at the scene, the SPCA said.

If anyone has information on Morejon's whereabouts, they are asked to contact the SPCA’s confidential animal cruelty hotline at 914-941-7797 or the Yonkers Police at 914-377-7777.
