Indian Congregation To Bring New Life To Yonkers Church

YONKERS, N.Y. – A Catholic church that was closed last year under the archdiocese’s consolidation program has a new congregation and a new life, according to a report by lohud.com.

Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Yonkers, shut last year by the archdiocese, has been adopted by a Indian Christian congregation as its new home. An inaugural celebration is set for Saturday, May 7.

Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church has been adopted by the Indian congregation of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, which had been using a chapel in a Salesian school in New Rochelle to worship, lohud.com reported.

An inaugural celebration is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the church, 18 Trinity St., the lohud.com report said.

The congregation has not yet settled on a new name for the church, the lohud.com story said.
