Daily Voice Leaders: Dr. Simeon Schwartz, CEO, Westmed

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- As the landscape of healthcare changes, WESTMED, led by President and CEO Dr. Simeon Schwartz, continues to show the ability to not only adapt, but grow and thrive in a tumultuous environment.

WESTMED began in 1996 with 16 doctors in various specialties. Today, the medical group has grown to more than 250 physicians in approximately 50 specialties, serving residents throughout Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley.

"Almost every shareholder meeting WESTMED has had with its physician owners, the question comes: 'Are we getting too big?'," Schwartz told Daily Voice. "So far, what we've been able to identify is that growth is not an impediment to high quality service."

Despite the changing healthcare environment, Schwartz believes the industry remains on solid ground.

"Healthcare is in a wonderful place," Schwartz said. "Life expectancy for Americans, particularly Medicare recipients is improving. Mortality is going down. People are living longer, and the cost of healthcare has largely stabilized."

Schwartz said the regulation in costs is due in large part to groups like WESTMED working toward creating more of a value experience for the patient.
