Cordero’s family set up a GoFundMe fundraising page on Sunday, a day after the 19-year-old Yonkers resident was killed in a rollover crash that injured two others. In just one day, more than $13,000 was raised, exceeding the stated goal to cover funeral costs.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Central Park Avenue, near Sadore Lane at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, where there were reports of an accident involving an overturned vehicle.

Upon arrival, Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said that officers spotted the BMW M5 in the roadway, with Cordero having been ejected from the vehicle. She was unconscious and unresponsive. First responders administrated medical aid and transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the BMW was hospitalized and charges are pending. His name has not been released as he recovers.

“My sister was in a horrific accident in Yonkers this past Saturday, which took her life at only 19 years old by (an) irresponsible driver who was speeding at no risk,” her sister wrote on the fundraising page. “This has been a nightmare to our family. My dad won’t be working for awhile and my mom was a stay-at-home mother who took care of my sister, (so) there will be no income.”

Any money raised will be used to fund funeral expenses and a cremation ceremony, according to the family. Those interested in donating to the cause can do so online.
