'Active' East Coast Hurricane Season Could Impact Westchester

A hurricane season that experts say will be "active" could impact the Hudson Valley.

There is now a 71 percent probability of a hurricane striking the Florida peninsula from August to October with a 38 percent chance of the hurricane making landfall, according to a report released on Friday.

The hurricane risk in New York is higher than some states on the mid-Atlantic coast, with a 10 percent probability of a hurricane hitting New York, and a four percent chance of a major hurricane striking the state, according to the report, which was released by Colorado State University hurricane researchers.
