How about cutting the bloated MTA administrative budget? No one talks about excessive administrative salaries and staff. That's where the true savings are attainable, but if you're a MTA administrator, why kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? Much easier to keep raising fares, and soak the riders for every last penny. And to deflect attention from their own astronomical salaries and benefits, Lhota and his cronies blame the workers, as if having a pension and a medical plan is asking too much.. View Comment
Ray Albanese has had several terms, many, many years to "make this right" and at this point he is part of the problem.
Time for new faces on the Fire Board. Time for commissioners who are honest and serve the people of Eastchester, not just themselves. View Comment
CT has a law that if the power is out for over 48 hours, utility companies are required to rebate 2.5 % of annual revenues to customers. An incentive for getting the power back.
Time for NY to pass this law too!! View Comment
The best man won, and we are all better for it.
Republicans complaining about the deficit are a hypocritical bunch. Where were those alarming self righteous anti deficit speeches when Bush was president, running up the tab? To only argue against democratic debt, and not Republican debt, is phony baloney. View Comment
The new normal is catastrophic climate change, due to decades of ignoring global warming warnings. The Republicans, as the anti- science party, bear considerable responsibility for our damaged planet View Comment
Obama was the clear winner last night. Once again Mitt FLIP FLOPPED. For months now he's crowed in bellicose boasts how he will keep troops in Afghanistan past 2014. Last night, suddenly, he agrees with Obama to bring them home! Amazing! Overnight he's a peacenik! So is he pretending to move to the center, and trick voters into thinking he's "moderate Mitt"? Or is he just an empty headed weather vane, shifting his position with the winds of public opinion? The guy has about as much backbone as a jellyfish.
Any politician who changes their mind constantly, and does not articulate a core set of beliefs CANNOT BE TRUSTED. We need a leader who knows what they stand for, not a COWARD who pretends to be all things to all people. View Comment
Hey, Entergy, your lie is obvious here. If the corroded, poorly designed pipes are so safe, why not use them ALL the time?the fact that you say, not to worry, we only use them 50% of them, is an admission of culpability.
Time to shut it down!!! View Comment
VOTE NO! An auditorium renovation could be done with half a million dollars. Add air conditioning for another half a million. Anything beyond that is a wasteful use of public money for a boondoggle that is not part of the core academic curriculum. This project is not for our kids. It is for parents who are used to a high degree of comfort and do not want to feel uncomfortable during Junior's Christmas Sing.
We don't need Avery Fischer Hall on Pondfield Road. View Comment
Everyone knows the Eastchester Fire Board of Commissioners is corrupt and out of control, perpetuating a system of cronyism accountable to no one. If the town of Eastchester took over fire fighting responsibilities, taxpayers would save MILLIONS of dollars. But guess what? No one has the courage to take them on. View Comment
To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen in his debate against Dan Quayle:
I remember Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was my Governor and President. Representative Ryan, you're no Ronald Reagan!

Yo! Wonky dudes! Get a life, man. Sounds like you two are on Entergy's payroll? Who wants a nuke plant in our background with constant safety violations? I like my kids, and I don't want them to glow in the dark. Shut it down. 'Nuff said. View Comment
Are you kidding me? Nominating one of the right wing's rabid nut jobs? The Republicants seem committed to wage war against women, seniors, poor, middle class, gays, Hispanics, and college kids. Who does Romney Ryan help? Rich white men and hedge fund managers. Party on, Thurston Howell III... View Comment
