Westchester's Saniya Chong Selected In WNBA Draft

OSSINING, N.Y -- Ossining High School graduate Saniya Chong's is a now professional basketball player.

Chong, who graduated in 2013 and played college ball for the Connecticut Huskies, was selected in the third round of the WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.

“I am truly blessed to be able to get this opportunity,” Chong said. I am grateful and excited to start my new journey. Thank you to everyone out there that supported me."

At UConn, Chong had 808 points, 288 rebounds, 119 steals and 135 three-pointers. During her senior year, Chong averaged career highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. She was 3rd team All-American Athletic Conference. 

While at Ossining, she was named the girls basketball National Player of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association, an All-American by Parade Magazine and the Gatorade Athlete of the Year.
