Citing an interview Rice gave to USA Today on Wednesday, NFL.com reported that Rice, who was released from the Ravens in September 2014, owned up to his actions, calling the negative attention he received after video of him punching then-fiancée Janay Palmer in a casino elevator was “deserved because domestic violence is a horrible thing."

Rice further stated that he wanted to play football again, in part, because he wanted to end his career “the right way,” according to NFL.com.

Rice, who later married Palmer, has been working out near him Stamford, Conn., home, according to NFL.com.
