College of New Rochelle Women's Basketball Trio Earns League Honors

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Three players from the College of New Rochelle women's basketball team were named to the All-Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) team recently. 

 Alyssa Pechin, Jah-Leah Ellis and Jasmine Brandon were all named to the HVIAC all-conference team recently.

Juniors Alyssa Pechin and Jah-Leah Ellis as well as sophomore Jasmine Brandon were recognized by the conference for their performances in the 2013-14 season.

Pechin, a Yonkers native, led the Blue Angels led the team in assists (99), steals (59), three-pointers (32) and free throw percentage (76.2%). She also became the first CNR player since 1986 to eclipse 1,000 career points. This is the second all-conference honor Pechin has picked up in her career. 

Ellis averaged 20.0 points, 15.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in her first season with the Blue Angels. She was also named the HVIAC player of the week twice. 

Ellis finished the season with 19 double-doubles which ranked her second nationally for Division III schools. 

Brandon earns All-HVIAC status for the second time after averaging a team-leading 22.3 points per game, adding 10.4 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.2 assists and 0.9 blocks per contest. She boasted three games of 40 points or more and was twice named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week.

CNR finished the season with a 16-9 record and the school's first-ever HVIAC Tournament Championship.
