Sarah Lawrence College has partnered with the world's leading car-sharing service Zipcar. The car rental service is now available for students, faculty and staff ages 18 and older, as well as nearby residents ages 21 and over.
The college will initially offer two vehicles, a Ford Focus and a Honda Civic. The cars will be located in a campus lot on Wrexham Road and will be available to rent any time.
“Having Zipcars on campus contributes to the college’s sustainability efforts and provides a valuable service to members of our community,” Sarah Lawrence College director of public affairs Judith Schwartzstein said.
This year, Sarah Lawrence College members can join for $25, with rates on campus starting as low as $7.50 per hour and $69 per day. After the first year, members will pay annual membership fees of $35.
With the Zipcar program available on campus, students now have the opportunity to participate in the Students With Drive grant program, which provides students with free Zipcar memberships and driving credits to support student organizations on campus.
“We see our partnership with Sarah Lawrence College as a win-win,” Zipcar University general manager Michael Serafino said. “Together, we're enabling this next generation of student drivers to experience a new generation of cars and transportation in a way that is convenient and cost-effective, not to mention fun.”
