Students in fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade dressed in costumes, makeup and wigs to transform themselves into entertainers, political figures, activists and inventors from the past as part of the school's Living Museum, school officials said.

"The docents greeted visitors as famous African- Americans and women of note from throughout our country’s history," school officials said. "Equipping themselves with the knowledge gained from classroom research, the young thespians became their chosen historical figures and provided guests with memorized presentations highlighting key aspects of each person’s life."

The living museum was a multi-curricular celebration that blended social studies, English language arts and public speaking, according to a release.
