Yonkers Schools Get $7 Million Grant

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Thanks to a new grant, Yonkers kids will have more offerings at after-school programs.

Yonkers Public Schools was awarded a $7 million Empire State After School Grant to fund Yonkers After School Academies.

The grant provides $1.4 million for each of five years for nine participating schools: School 9, School 13, School 23, Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, Cedar Place School, Enrico Fermi School, Robert C. Dodson School, Palisade Preparatory School, and Gorton High School.

"These after-school programs will help ensure young New Yorkers in high-need school districts receive the guidance they need," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
