YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers Board of Education has reappointed President Nader J. Sayegh and Vice President Steve Lopez.
Board members re-elected the two at the 133rd annual meeting of the Yonkers Board of Education, according to a press release. The two will serve one-year terms in their leadership posts. Before the election, Curtis Kendrick and Pasquale Mondesando took the oath of office as trustees to officially begin their five-year terms of service. The two filled vacancies left by former Trustees Trevor Bennett and Christine Balko, who completed their terms of service earlier this month.
“We would like to thank Trevor Bennett and Christine Balko for their dedication and commitment to the district’s students, staff and families,” said Sayegh. “We welcome new Trustees Kendrick and Mondesando as they join our continued commitment to promote transparency and embrace a collective conversation regarding district issues. Together, let us continue to direct our combined efforts for the benefit of the children of the Yonkers Public Schools.”
Lopez said he was honored to serve another term.
"There is a great deal of pride in this service, and it has been an extremely rewarding experience,” said Lopez. “I look forward to this new era, as the board strives to become a model for other school districts.”
Kendrick is university dean for libraries and information resources at The City University of New York. As a senior member of the university’s Office of Academic Affairs, he works with the Council of Chief Librarians and other university administrators to further enhance library system funding, resources, programs and services.
Mondesando has been a business owner for 25 years and serves as president and founder of Rose Press Inc., where he serves regional printing needs. Previously, he worked as an engineer for Lockheed Martin, McDonnell Douglas and Avco Lycoming.
