YONKERS, N.Y. -- New York's 16th Congressional District will participate in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition, according to Rep. Eliot Engel.

This competition is open to all high school students, grades nine through 12 who are enrolled in a school the district.

The competition will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Yonkers Riverfront Public Library, 1 Larkin Plaza, in the Yonkers Room on the fourth floor. Entrants can drop off original artwork between 12:30 and 1 p.m. on the day of the competition. The art cannot be dropped off prior to the event date as Yonkers library personnel will not hold it. The artwork will be judged by an independent panel.

Students who cannot attend in person should have someone drop off the artwork at the event.

The guidelines for this competition can be found by clicking here . The selected entry will hang in the U.S. Capitol from June 2016 through early May 2017. Interested students should submit a digital photo of their artwork, along with their completed release forms, by Thursday, April 7, to the office of Rep. Eliot Engel at engelartcompetition@mail.house.gov.

For more information, contact Hannah Aiken at engelartcompetition@mail.house.gov or at 202-225-2464; or Kenneth Switzer at 718-796-9700.
