Elementary schoolers at Kahlil Gibran recently raised over $3,700 for Relay Recess, a kid-friendly spinoff of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Children joined in several outdoor games and activities throughout the week, including bag hop relay races.

Students also participated in classroom activities and learned about preventative measures against cancer.

Kahlil Gibran was the first elementary school in Yonkers to hold this event, parents said.

All proceeds from the event were donated to the American Cancer Society.
