Yonkers Education Chief's $579M Budget Includes Two New Schools

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A proposed budget of close to $600 million for Yonkers schools would help pay for a new elementary school and a high school for English-language learners, according to a report in lohud.

Edwin Quezada, the interim schools superintendent, presented a plan that would also bring back sports, music and arts programs on the elementary school level, the lohud report said.

But before any plan can be adopted, the city has to close a budget gap of more than $20 million, the lohud story said.
