Yonkers School To Benefit From Full-Day Kindergarten State Aid

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Three Westchester County school districts will benefit from $340 million in state funds provided to 81 school districts to create full-day pre-kindergarten, thanks to approval by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other lawmakers, reports LoHud.

In all, 19 awards totaling $300 million went to pre-K providers in New York City for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, while 62 school districts outside of the city will receive funding, according to the report.

In Westchester, the Catholic School Region of Central Westchester in Yonkers will receive $2.2 million, Ossining Union Free School District will receive $2.1 million and White Plains Public Schools will receive just over $1 million details in the report state.
