Stepinac Senior Monaghan Wins Stock Market Challenge

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Brendan Monaghan, a senior at Stepinac High School — one of the nation’s top 50 Catholic high schools — won the Business and Economic Club’s Stock Market Challenge.

He earned the championship title by turning a theoretical $100,000 into a $500,000 profit by trading stock in the stock market in just seven months, beating out 35 other student members of the club, one of many extracurricular activities overseen and run by the Stepinac faculty and students.

The young savvy investor earned some real money though for his amazing feat — a $388 scholarship that he will use next year.
