Hats Off To Lincoln High School's Class of 2015

YONKERS, N. Y. — There was a swarm of purple and white at the Westchester County Center Sunday evening as Lincoln High School's Class of 2015 graduated.

Jonathan Figueroa and Brandon Quintana were happy to finish high school. "I can't wait to serve my country," said Figueroa, who will be joining the U.S. Marines in the next few weeks.

Yanilka Rivas and O'Neilia Ferguson were excited about graduating. Rivas will be attending Monroe College in the fall to study business administration and Ferguson will be attending Hostos Community College to study forensics.

David Lopez (Gorton High School) and cousin Josias Cruz (Lincoln High School) both were happy to be graduating on the same day. Both graduations were at the Westchester County Center.

The 248 students were very excited to close the door of high school and open a new door to their future.

Valedictorian Jennifer Yang told her graduating class: "You must believe in yourself. You are going to have triumphs and successes."

Jonathan Figueroa, who was involved in Lincoln High's ROTC, will be going to Paris Island in South Carolina for his training in the U.S. Marines.

"I can't wait to go and serve my country," Figueroa said.

Alexis Rosas will be going to SUNY Stony Brook in the fall to study science with the goal of becoming a pediatrician. Rosas received a silver medal for science, the principal's award and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Junior Narvaez Membreno will be going to SUNY Buffalo in the fall to study international business.

"I want to run a company," he said.

Narvaez Membreno received a service award, an award from the business society Today's Student Tomorrow's Teachers and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Cousins David Lopez (Gorton High School) and Josias Cruz (Lincoln High School) both will attend Westchester Community College in the fall to study business.

Cruz said he was happy and excited.

"This was the best experience for me; I am the second person in my family to graduate and it feels great," Lopez said.
