Gas Spill Forces Yonkers Students To Briefly Evacuate

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Students at Yonkers Middle High School were evacuated for a brief time on Tuesday morning, March 25, after gasoline was spilled in a garage near the school, according to News 12.

The smell of the gas entered the school, and Principal Jane Wermuth evacuated the students and called the fire department as a precaution, according to the report.

Fire officials reportedly discovered that a piece of machinery owned by the school was being filled with gas and it had spilled in the garage.

Students and faculty soon returned to class, according to the report.
