'Significant Quantity' Of Crack Cocaine Seized During Drug Bust In Lexington Park: Sheriff

Officials say that a man with a checkered criminal past has found himself on the wrong side of the law again in St. Mary’s County.

The investigation into drug sales throughout the region led the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office to Dimitri Paul Brooks, 27, of Lexington Park, who is facing a host of charges after being busted on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, on Wednesday, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit, Emergency Services Team, and a K-9 Unit executed search and seizure warrants in the 46000 block of Sue Drive in Lexington Park amid their ongoing investigation.

The residence in question belonged to Brooks, and a search of the home led to the seizure of:

  • “A significant quantity” of crack cocaine;
  • Fentanyl;
  • Loaded Ruger Security 9mm handgun;
  • Cash;
  • Digital scale;
  • Various packing/production materials.

Officials noted that Brooks was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a previous criminal conviction.

Brooks was served on multiple outstanding warrants for failure to appear on CDS possession and violation of a protective order charge.

He was also charged with:

  • CDS Possession: Intent to distribute narcotics;
  • Possession of a firearm with Nexus to a drug trafficking crime;
  • CDS Possession: Not cannabis;
  • Illegal possession of a regulated firearm;
  • Illegal possession of ammo.

Brooks was transported to St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and released by a court commissioner on Wednesday afternoon.
