Middletown Teen Charged With Trying To Rob Female Pedestrian In Wallkill

WALLKILL, N.Y. — A 16-year-old from Middletown was charged with hitting a female victim in the face after she refused to give him money in a robbery attempt, Wallkill police said.

Town of Wallkill Police Officer John Zonneveld responded to a report of a robbery at 281 Route 211 East on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 3:50 p.m., police said. 

A subsequent investigation by Detective Christopher DiNapoli led to the arrest of Thomas Ferranti, police said. 

Ferranti was arrested after an investigation determined that at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 he assaulted and attempted to rob a female victim who was walking on Pilgrim Corners Road in the Town of Wallkill, police said. 

He  demanded money from the victim and struck her in the face when she  refused, police said. 

The victim suffered bruising from the assault, police said. 

Ferranti was charged with third-degree attempted robbery, third-degree assault and attempted petit larceny. 

He  was arraigned before Judge Peter Green, Town of Wallkill Court, where he was remanded to Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond.
