Wilton Registered Nurse Jeme Millar Dies at 43

WILTON, Conn. – Jeme S. Millar of Wilton died May 6 at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by family. She was 43.  

Millar was a resident of Wilton since 2007, and worked as a registered nurse with the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County 

Born June 9, 1968 in Newport Beach, Calif., she was a daughter of Kenneth Sorenson and Diana Price Kinzler.

After spending her early years in southern California, Millar was raised in the rural town of Chewelah, Wash. She was active in high school athletics and was a varsity cheerleader.

She met Peter Millar while taking a break from college and working for a family in Rye, N.Y. They moved to California to complete their undergraduate studies and were married on Sept. 10, 1993. They lived in San Jose, Calif., through the summer of 1997 and enjoyed camping and hiking in the Sierra Mountains. 

She returned to New York in 1997 and began a career as a registered nurse. Millar held positions at several hospitals, including St. Vincent’s in Harrison, N.Y., Columbia Presbyterian in Manhattan, Stamford Hospital and Silver Hill in New Canaan. 

Millar took a break from work to raise her two sons, Sean and Colin. Once they began grammar school, she re-entered nursing, providing care to the elderly of Wilton, Westport and Norwalk. 

She is survived by her parents; her husband; two sons, Sean Patrick Millar and Colin Peter Millar, of Wilton; and a sister, LeeAyra Piccini, of Renton, Wash. 

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton. Burial will be private.
