Vet, Tech Agree to Disagree on Norwalk Weather

Pamela Flint and Stephanie Adian had different reactions to the weather Tuesday morning. Faced with a dusting of snow, Adian made her boyfriend drive her to work. Flint bundled up a little and walked down to the dock to grab a shower.

Despite the frosty morning temps in the low 20s, both made it safely to Park Veterinary Hospital on East Avenue, where Adian is a veterinarian, Flint is a veterinary technician and their attire couldn't be more different. With the thermostat set at 70, Adian wears a long down coat. Flint wears a turtleneck under her scrubs. "I'm dying of the heat in here," she said. "I go outside and walk the dogs, and I'm dressed like this, and it's fine."

Adian, a reluctant Texas transplant, said, "I go out in full garb, hat, gloves." She became a vet two years ago after going to Ross University – in the Caribbean – and finishing up in Oklahoma. Unfortunately, while she was studying just north of the equator she met a guy, just by chance. They became an item. "I tried to get him to move to Texas, but that was a big no-go," she said. "Here I am. Freezing."

Flint said snow doesn't bother her where she lives at the Seaview House Marina in Stamford. "We live on a boat," she said. "A 46-foot motor yacht, although it's not exactly a yacht; it needs a lot of TLC."

"We" includes Flint, her fiancé, a 20-year-old cat, a 6-year-old three-legged cat, a full pit bull and a sharpei-pit mix that Flint rescued two months ago. The humans don't shower on the boat. "We go up to the marina for the shower building," Flint said. She estimates that it's 50 yards away from the boat.

"I would never in a million years do that," Aidan said. "I mean ever." Things will get a little better for Adian: according to WeatherUnderground, it will be much warmer Wednesday, with a high of 27 degrees and a low of 20 degrees.

"I dread this eight or nine months out of the year," Adian said. The boyfriend is "the only reason I would ever in a million years end up on the East Coast."
