Demolition In Yonkers To Make Way For 442-Unit Apartment Complex

YONKERS, N.Y. – Demolition that has begun along Larkin Plaza, Nepperhan Street and Main Street will be completed in about three months, clearing a space for a new 442-unit apartment complex, according to lohud.com.

Contractors hired by RXR Larkin Tower LLC are razing properties at 16, 20, 38-40 Larkin Plaza; 22 Nepperhan St.; and 41 and 45-49 Main St. to construct two 25- and 17-floor towers and a 539-space parking garage, according to lohud.com.

Officials with the developers have said the apartments will be available for rent at market rate, but would provide no further details, according to lohud.com, which reported that 800-square-foot apartments nearby rent for between $2,000 and $2,200 monthly.

The $197 million project is across from Van der Donck Park and the new river walk on the Saw Mill River, according to lohud.com.
