Spano Promises To Keep Yonkers On Right Track In State Of City

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Mayor Mike Spano, vowing to keep Yonkers on the right track, said in his State of the City speech Wednesday that funding for schools will be the last thing that gets cut, according to reports.

Spano promised to hire more teachers for the struggling district and to restore music, sports and arts programs, News12 reported.

The mayor said he planned to use state aid to help pay for the projected $24 million cost of bolstering schools, the News12 story said.
