MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon's Derickson Lawrence vowed to continue fighting after the state Board of Elections ruled his candidate petitions invalid on May 4.
Lawrence, who wants to run in next month's Democratic primary as a candidate in the 16th Congressional District, called the decision by the board commissioners 'establishment politics at work.'
“Our attorneys are engaged and they will fight this battle in court,” he added.
After the decision, Lawrence sent an email to supporters saying the decision wouldn't 'take us off message.'
“Washington is broken and the voters of the 16th Congressional District want and deserve a contest of ideas,” Lawrence said.
