“I am incredibly grateful to have the confidence of this community to continue to serve on the City Council,” Sabatino said. “I’m proud of the progress we have made alongside Mayor Spano to move this city forward – to improve our schools, to create safer streets and to help create new jobs and economic development.

“However, there’s still a lot of work to do, which is why I’m ready to get to work for everyday Yonkers families and seniors,” he continued.

“We are so happy to see Michael win re-election," said Working Families Party New York State Director Bill Lipton. "The homophobic attacks that Michael faced during this campaign have no place in politics and we’re so happy that Yonkers voters didn’t reward them. Michael has stood up for working families, and Yonkers voters stood by him tonight. We congratulate him on his victory and look forward to his continued progressive leadership in the Yonkers City Council.”

Lipton commended Sabatino for providing resources for Yonkers schools, protecting the environment and making sure property taxes stay under the state cap every year.

“We’re at a crossroads in making Yonkers one of the best places in the state to live, work and raise a family. The importance of coming together as a community to get things done is greater now more than ever, and I’m grateful that the voters have provided me another term and based their vote on my record and not negative false representations,” Sabatino said.
