Yonkers Police Warn Of IRS, Bank Impersonators

YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers police are warning residents to beware of people calling on the telephone saying they are a representative of the Internal Revenue Service or a bank, according to citizenobserver.com.

The scam involves someone claiming to be an IRS employee threatening to arrest the victim unless an immediate payment is made, citizenobserver.com reported.

Criminals have also been impersonating representatives from area banks such as Wells Fargo, and sometimes have partial account information at their disposal, according to citizenobserver.com.
