YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers police spent Saturday investigating the shooting death of a man at the Pitkin Park basketball courts on Locust Hill Avenue.

Published reports have identified the man was Justin Degree, a man convicted and sentenced to five years in prison in 2008 for shooting reputed Strip Boyz street gang leader Kasheem “Killa Kash” Little.

Yonkers police have not provided further details on the shooting.

Police arrived at the park around 8 p.m. Friday after receiving several reports of a shooting. Degree was later pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

A neighbor previously told The Daily Voice that he heard two gunshots ring out and a group of men running from the park. The neighbor said he had seen “six or seven” men shooting dice on the court earlier that night.

"It doesn't surprise me that something like this would happen," he said.
