Michael Montes, 22, of Yonkers and Julian McClendon, 21, of Mount Vernon were charged with robbery in the first degree. They were to be arraigned Thursday in Yonkers Criminal Court.

An initial investigation revealed that three suspects entered the store dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks, said police. The suspects attempted to use an employee to gain entry into an area of the store where money was located, but when that failed they went to the jewelry display cases, said police.

The trio then assaulted a 21-year-old employee, while holding others at gunpoint, said police. The suspects took an employee’s car keys and fled, said police. Police recovered the vehicle, and it is being held for processing.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can contact the Detective Division at 914-377-7724.
